Know your
measurements.
Lay your garment flat on an even surface. Smooth out any creases without pulling or stretching the fabric.
Width
Measure straight across the chest, one inch below the armhole. This is flat garment width, not body circumference.
Length
Measure from the high point of the shoulder to the back hem.
Sleeve
Measure from the centre back of the neck, over the shoulder, to the sleeve hem.

Measurements are for the garment laid flat. Width is measured across the chest one inch below the armhole, not around the body. Length is measured from the high point of the shoulder to the back hem. Sleeve length is measured from the centre back of the neck, over the shoulder, to the sleeve hem.
